Here's the video DeeDee mentioned in class about Reverend Billy getting arrested for reciting the first amendment:

the video was a bit unclear in the beginning, but it was interesting to note that the officer making the arrest was directly addressed by and talked to by the man cited as an "archtect" of the anti-assembly law.

i'm still curious though - when did this take place, and for what purpose (or pretense) were such anti-assembly restrictions put into place? was the recording of each and every officers badge number and name put to any use? was the ride allowed to continue?

i'd like to hear more.

Rev Billy's first amendment "readings" were done is several places over a period of about 6 months in I think 2006. The taping of police and their badge numbers is often done at protests as a way, first and foremost, to let cops know they are "on record". Often the images are posted to the local indymedia.org site. It can be a way of identifying a cop who is especially brutal, or one who may be on occasion under cover--.dd
