Apparently, this guy David Horovitz has a blog in which he posts things he will do for money. Things like:
If you give me $4,444 I will go to the Island of St Helena. I will take a photograph of the sky and mail it to you from there. Nothing else.
Its an interesting concept and some people have followed up on his cheaper proposals.

I think this is a really cool idea; I just wish that I could 100% believe he would do the things he says he is going to do. Also, in a strange way, it seems like a twist on charity. I think he should work on putting up less expensive things.

I was fascinated by this site. I think the most intriguing part is that he lists how many times each "sale" has been purchased and by whom. I wasn't surprised at all that nobody had taken him up on his expensive trips, but it was interesting how many people decided it was worth $5 to find out one of his secrets and how many decided it was worth $10 to get him to apologize to somebody.
hahahah, this is funny to me for a number of reasons. namely, it reminds me of the comment freddy made on the first day of class regarding image, experience and ownership, and how sites like flickr and facebook have been changing the way we think about lived experience. or, more generally, how technology has shaped all of our (mediated) memories. while a part of me thinks this is a really interesting and playful concept, another part of me gets really depressed over some of its cynical implications (think: the tense intersection of "the art world" and commodity fetishism at large). i don't quite think the title of "charity" is suitable, although i do feel as though the project exposes a lot of our culture's obsession with capital gain. not to sound so marxist in this post, but honestly -- isn't this cynicism most obvious in having someone pay you to think about them?
